Terry Sanford I came across the Eddystone User Group some years ago after acquiring an ex Canadian Coastguard RX.
Have great admiration for the efforts of Graeme and all the others so loyal to 'Things Eddystone. Thank you.
A technical tip that might help?
I corresponded to a discussion last year, if I remember correctly, posed by a member about switch/contacts that seem to 'go open' for no apparent reason. I postulated, on the basis of experience and standard practice in the telphone industry that audio and other switch and relay contacts that switch audio but do not carry a DC current (even of a few microamps) do have the potential* to build up sufficient surface corrosion to go open (or "Dis" as e used to say).
I have recently had the same problem with the noise limiter switch (and previously) with an identical Hi/Lo (That's American spelling chaps) switch of a 50 year old Hallicrafter. Neither of these perfectly normal toggle switches, mounted through the front panel of the Hallicrafter, carry any DC the attched circuts involve isolating capacitors and both switches have gone open; at different times. Removed and tested with 'real current' (DC or AC) the toggles are OK! In fact I'll possibly, due to it AC rating, use one as replacement for the plastic handled one on my 115 volt AC shop vacuum.
So just thought I'd mention it. While we are probably used to the idea of cleaning rotary switch (Yaxley type?) band change switches etc. the insides of a simpler SPST toggle switch is hidden.
Warm regards to all Eddystone lovers.
Terry
PS* That word "potential" was an unintended pun!

John Baker GW3MHW Was employed at the bath tub late 1950's, worked on and saw S358 ,/ 400, S440 VHF radio telephones, S504, S640, S659 / 670, S680, S730, S740, S750, S770R and U, also rare S770H, S820, S880 (30 bands High Stab) and possibly other s inc. IMR large cabinet believe may have been designated S710 but long time ago.   Own an S740 with correct loud speaker and shell S meter.

Over the many years have collected and currently use most of the individual components manufactured for Radio Amateurs.   I recall Eddystone amateurs: G5JU, G6XJ, G2CLN, G3ANN, G2XN, G5SS, G3AYW, possibly others, and G5BJ whom I encountered elsewhere.

Best wishes GW3MHW, only use cw app 50 watts these days.

John Morris   (GW6DDF) Hi
I had the fortunate pleasure of working at the Bath Tub between 1963 and late 1967, initially as a student placement from college and ten as a production line worker final test assistant with Pat Jennings before leaving and working abroad. The firm always ahd a great "familiy" feel to it. Also remember Bill Cooke, Harold Cox et al. Do you have info on their present situation as I have lost touch with past colleagues. I found this site after spottig a mention in this months P/Wireless. I did find some mention ofEddystone on the  friend reunited site.

Ian Flemming G3ZDQ What an absolutely fascinating site. As a collector of Eddystones for many years and an EUGer, I found the wealth of information now openly available on the site quite amazing. I had been concerned that the last issue of the Lighthouse magazine might have heralded the demise of EUG.  Now I think  the new web site will stimulate a new and interesting period of growth for those interested in Eddystone Radio. Well done and thank you to everyone concerned.

Roy W. Badrock     VK3ARY A very interesting WEB site. I wonder if the Group has ever considered producing a CD containing the information on your site such as the manuals, Newsletters etc., as downoading such lare amounts of information using a standad 56K modem would take for ever (we don't all have the luxury of broadband connections). I am sure that there would be quite a bit of interest here in Australia for such a CD and the Group could make some money as well.

There were quite a lot of Eddystone receivers sold out here in years gonebuy and they are quite collectable. I have 690X and a 830/7 both of which are still going well. Keep up the good work.

A big thank you to Graeme Wormald G3GGL for all his hard work and always very helpful, wishing him a well earned retirement.

Phil Harris G4SPZ This site has become, in a very short time, what must be the most comprehensive resource for anyone wishing to know anything at all about Eddystone sets.  I compliment all concerned in its production and wish the site every success and a long life!

In terms of a donation, I intend to modify my current annual standing order to the EUG and continue to make a regular donation to the site.  It's worth every  penny!  Thank you all once again and 73,

Bernard J Harris  RS 93911 Membership No 163372 As an Ex Employee of Eddystone Radio 1958 until December 1959, I would like to congratulate you
all for the Hard Work involved in creating this excellent WebSite. I have been a subscriber for a number
of years to the Eddystone Lighthouse E.U.G. and would like to offer my heartfelt thanks to those
Stalwarts who gave us such enlightened information about all that was EDDYSTONE RADIO. It is
not unlike loosing a member of a very close family.

My Late Father A.L.Harris was the Accountant for the Laughton Group which included Eddystone Radio
and travelled each week with the wages for the Eddystone employees. (Between Warstock and West Heath.). Security in those days was minimal.!!!!!!

Very Best Wishes for the Website.
